St. Level SAAP Summer 2012 Program

SAAP is an 8 week mentorship program. I was fortunate enough to be apart of this summers program. My two mentee's were Diamonque Jackson & Ana Luz Alanis.
Two completely different  students with completely different background and Art making experiences. Both my mentees turned out outstanding work for a final gallery exhibit.

Ana's Room
Ana's Piece was a multimedia piece involving primarily photography & writing. The piece was titled Ana's Room. It told the visitor the story of her struggles of a teenager with her illness and her fight to retain an education through her sickness. This was my mentee's, Ana's, personal fight, a past experience that was still close to her heart in many ways. Ana collaborated with two other artist to create this piece, a musician and a second photographer. The musician was rapper D-Bangs. D-bangs created music that played in the teenagers room. Ana Luz created his posters and cd's also seen in the photos of this installation.

Diamonque work was an examination of Chicago, it's neighborhoods and it's inhabitants.
The piece strives to identify the true meaning of freedom by having the participants identify an problem and providing a solution to that problem.
